In terms of the number of films viewed this month, this is an improvement over the past two months. Still in the grips of TV, but getting back into cinema a little bit more. Unfortunately, wasn't too fond of the films I saw this month. Decided to watch a mix of audience favorites as well as favorites among critics, only to be disappointed by the films regardless of who recommended them.
My favorite film of the month was one I watched out of necessity. "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore", favorite of the month, is a raw and moving early picture by Martin Scorsese. It is anchored by a strong performance from Ellen Burstyn and blends melodramatic narrative with road movie conventions.
