An SAT Tutor's List of High School Reading From the 70s

Here is what I read in High School from 1969 to 1973 in a poorly rated school system in the Boston suburbs. The titles reflect assigned or required reading through The Count of Monte Cristo, which was assigned and read in French in French IV class. The remainder of the books after that were read on my own for pleasure during those four years. Along with innumerable poems and some short stories which I haven't documented, this is what English teachers made sure students read to get a good education some 45 years ago. My current students read approximately 4-5 assigned books a year. You do the math.
