Another month gone by in my quest to catch up on all the movies I've been meaning to see, along with other titles I've found along the way.
Two interesting entries this month: Silent film star Helen Gardner was the first movie actor to start his/her own production company; the first film SHE produced (and starred in) was Cleopatra (1912). As for the other, Plan 9 from Outer Space has been proclaimed in the past as the worst movie ever made, but I maintain that The Robot vs. the Aztec Mummy is worse. It's not "so bad, it's good", or even "so bad, it's enjoyable to watch". It's Just. Plain. Bad.
Again this month, there are plenty of good movies I could recommend, but I will limit myself to the best seven: Auntie Mame; The Killing; The Killing Fields; Man on Wire; The Scent of Green Papaya; The Searchers, and Shadow of the Vampire.
