Heavy on silents this month--23... 24 if you count "Noah's Ark", an early Warner Bros/Vitaphone release w/two scenes of recorded dialogue. To me, that's not "silent", so 23 it is.
Best films: The Cranes Are Flying; Grass; Murderball; Touch of Zen (a lyrical masterpiece); The Town (*finally* saw it all the way thru); The Wind; & Kronos, a sci-fi flick I'd never heard of, but which, like "Independence Day", involves aliens stealing Earth's resources.
Worst film: "The Nude Vampire" which made me ask "WTF did I just watch?"
Also finally watched GWTW--was what I expected: a technical/artistic tour de force, defending the indefensible. If the slavery didn't turn me off, the marital rape would have.
Final note: watched "Beavis & Butt-Head...", then Godard's "2 or 3 Things..." about 3 weeks later. Wasn't like "Breathless" or "Contempt"; non-linear and too-socio-political for my taste. Halfway through watching it, I had the startling thought, "I liked 'Beavis & Butt-Head' better"
