The English Teacher Goes to the Movies Part 4: Film Adaptations of Major (And Some Minor) Plays - Page 6

This time, our maverick English Teacher, Theatre Director, and film buff looks at how Stage plays have weathered the transition to film. Once again, the criteria for inclusion are: 1) The films must be based on previously written and produced plays ("Casablanca" is the exception; Warner's bought the unproduced play and held all the rights.) . 2) The films must have been conceived, budgeted, and shot as films, and must have had some form of theatrical release. Made for TV adaptations and recordings of live stage performances were excluded.. 3) With a few notable exceptions, the list is limited to English language adaptations.
