T Rex was a glam bubblegum band that dominated the charts in early 70's Britain but could only manage one hit single in the US, "Bang a Gong (Get it On)." Their music was trashy and fun, and Americans weren't in the mood for that in 1971, we preferred listening to singer-songwriters whining about their broken hearts. Our loss, really.
