Sequels Where Major Characters Die

It's one thing for a main protagonist or co-lead to die in a stand alone film. Shocking, yes. But imagine being invested in a character for a couple or even several films only then to see them go. Sometimes it's heroic, sometimes it's a great sendoff, and sometimes it's cheap and unfulfilling. Either way, here are sequels where major characters die. (I am going to focus on protagonists rather than antagonists as it's less shocking when a bad guy is finally defeated rather than a good guy) EDIT: I can't believe I left out Star Trek Generations and Star Trek Nemesis. Maybe I'll add them to an updated list in the future.
