While the cast and crew, and even studios, probably aren't going to be identical between films anyway, there are times when even the main character gets a new actor. There are many reasons why an actor must be replaced. As it takes time to make a movie, the original actor could have aged out of a role, become bound to other commitments, or even, unfortunately, pass away.
