Ramsey Campell is a novelist and critic known for Incarnate, Obsession, The Hungry Moon, The Influence, Ancient Images, The Nameless, and Pact of the Fathers. He has been a critic for numerous magazines including Video Watchdog. The list appears on page 498 of The Overlook Film Encyclopedia, edited by Phil Hardy. The Overlook Press, 1995.
Films are listed in chronological order. Metropolis didn't make the top ten because "I'm fonder of as many as ten of Lang's other films." Also, "The BBC serial of Quatermass and the Pit, which gives Kneale's ideas more room to breathe than the Hammer version did" was included among his honorable mentions despite being made for television.
I made a mistake and left out his #10--The Fly (1986).
