Discovering Westerns Part 1: Traditional, Old School Westerns

Part 1 in a series designed to be a crash course in discovering the western film genre. In this first part we look at traditional westerns of the real old school variety. The western genre was largely a family friendly genre in it's early years, taking a turning point towards more mature themed films in the 1960s. John Wayne naturally dominates the selection here, but a few films have been selected to showcase other leading actors of the time, including Henry Fonda, James Stewart and Gary Cooper.
