Birds New to North America: 1970s - Page 2

This is a list of rare birds that were first recorded in the U.S. or Canada in the 1970s, presented in chronological order; the list comes from Appendix C of Rare Birds of North America (Howell et al, 2014). Thirty-one of these birds come from the Palearctic (Europe and/or Asia); 11 are from mainland tropical America from Mexico southward; Antillean Palm-Swift and Bahama Mockingbird are found in the Caribbean; Great Frigatebird and Red-tailed Tropicbird are widespread in tropical oceans; and Black-browed Albatross and Stejneger's Petrel nest in the southern oceans.
