Birds New to North America: 1950s

This is a list of rare birds that were first recorded in the U.S. or Canada in the 1950s, presented in chronological order; the list comes from Appendix C of Rare Birds of North America (Howell et al, 2014). Most of these birds hail from the Palearctic (Europe and/or Asia), but Nutting's Flycatcher is a Mexican species, Western Spindalis is found in the Caribbean, and the White-capped Albatross nests in the southern oceans near Tasmania and New Zealand.
