Continuing my series of my personal 10/20 Best from various countries. We've been to Germany and Hong Kong, and today we visit Italy.
In making this list, I realized that I could possibly replace half of these with films I haven't seen yet--La Dolce Vita; La Strada; Nights of Cabiria; L'Avventura; Umberto D; Rome, Open City--lots of good possibilities. Even though I've seen over 40 Italian films, I clearly need to step up my game in my viewing choices....
I almost didn't include The Battle of Algiers, forgetting at first that--even though the dialogue is in French--the movie is actually an Italian production.
List image from the final gunfight scene in The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. If Sergio Leone had done *nothing* else cinematically, he would be forever remembered for that scene.
