The Well-Educated Mind Updated: The Novels Plus Extras

These are books discussed in Chapter 5 of "The Well-Educated Mind: A Guide to the Classical Education You Never Had (Updated and Expanded)" by Susan Wise Bauer. Chapter 5 is titled "The Story of People: Reading through History with the Novel".
Since I have the actual updated book in my possession, I can give you a more detailed, and hopefully more useful, list than previous versions of this challenge (see NOTE below).
1-32: Novels discussed in detail
33-40: Other books that give context to the above works.
NOTE: The 1st 32 book icons show an edition recommended by Susan Wise Bauer (e.g. best translation (if applicable), not overly annotated, quality font and binding etc.) Probably most applicable if choosing a translation to read or reread.
