The Films of Dana Wynter

Dana Wynter (b Dagmar Winter, 1931, Berlin) grew up in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe), debuted on the London stage and made a handful of British films before moving to New York in 1953 where she became a featured player in prestigious early TV fare like "Studio One" and "Playhouse 90." Never a major Hollywood star, she did manage to appear in some memorable movies, most notably the sci-fi masterpiece "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" (1951) and the seminal disaster flick "Airport" (1970). Ms. Wynter married legendary Hollywood divorce lawyer Gregson Bautzer in 1956, divorced him (shockingly enough) in 1981, and spent her last three decades traveling between homes in California and Ireland before her death in 1981. Some of us will always have fond memories of the sundress she wore through much of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers."
