The English Teacher Looks at the Best Novels About Politics

Our maverick English Teacher, confronted by an election year that feels like fiction ( and dystopian fiction at that), reflects on fictional treatments of politics. Here are 38 novels (plus 3 published plays and tv scripts ) that explore in various ways our body politic. Some are serious novels, some are thrillers, some are satires, a few are speculative allegories and one or two are overwrought potboilers. All of them are well worth reading.
