Did you know that Grave of the Fireflies has literally no plot structure whatsoever? No complicating action, no climax, just a long montage of missed opportunities for plot development. Did you notice that Spies in Disguise (a kids' movie) is sort of under-the-radar hoping you'll feel sorry for an actual terrorist? How about Requiem for a Dream, do you remember that movie? I'm willing to bet that you actually don't, because literally nothing happens in that movie at all.
I realize of course that a lot of this is subjective, but I do think that all of these movies have major flaws that many of their proponents sometimes gloss over, usually involving story. Just because something is really sad or clever or loud or all over the place doesn't mean it's well-written, directed, edited, or made. These are the movies that I found so unbearably turgid that they ruined my whole day.
