Sweltering Southern Summer Reading List

Books I have read/reread during the oppressively hot summer months down here in the Southern Hemisphere. Most are short easy reads; the list includes many childhood favourites of my family.
As regards quality, the majority of the books were either amusing, thought provoking or of sentimental value. Particular favourites were "The Meursault Investigation" (a special for Camus fans), "Washington Black" & the annotated version of "Double Helix".
