Sam Worthington is a British-born Australian actor who was raised in Perth, Western Australia. A 1998 graduate from NIDA - National Institute of Dramatic Arts in Sydney. He received critical acclaim for his portrayal of "Arthur Wellesley" in his first professional role in the Belvoir Street Theatre production, "Judas Kiss" directed by Neil Armfield. He then went on to work in Australian television shows, "Water Rats" (1996) and "Backburner" and then on the American TV show, "JAG" 100th episode, 'Boomerang: Part 1' in 1995.
It was in 2004, Sam got his big break with his role in Cate Shortland's acclaimed Australian drama, "Somersault" (2004). Worthington also would win the AFI award for Best Male Actor in the same year.
Worthington's career took off internationally when casted as 'Jake Sully' in James Cameron's "Avatar" (2009). Since he has become a household name with films like "Clash of the Titans" (2010), "Texas Killing Fields" (2011) and "Wrath of the Titans" (2012).
