Special Birds of Texas - Page 3

The Lone Star State is one of the world's most popular birding destinations, and for good reason: it has the second-highest bird list of any US state (630+ species, behind only California), and its large size combined with its south-central location ensures a wide variety of birds pass through the area. Among the avian highlights of Texas are numerous Mexican species along the length of the Rio Grande, Black-capped Vireos and Golden-cheeked Warblers (the latter nesting nowhere else) on the Edwards Plateau, and Colima Warblers at Big Bend National Park (the only place it reaches the US). For the visiting birder, every corner of the state has something interesting to see.
