Saves Leaders (Updated to June 24th, 2015)

A "save" in Major League Baseball typically involves a pitcher who is called upon to pitch the 9th inning with a lead of 3 or fewer runs. It has been an official statistic since 1969, but has been applied retro-actively where necessary.Only 26 players in MLB history have reached 300 hundred or more saves. Of these, only five have reached the 400 mark, and only 2 have reached the 500 -- AND 600 mark! The all-time leader is Mariano Rivera who retired following the 2013 season with 652 saves.Of the members of the 300 save club, three are active and two have surpassed the 350 mark.
