Myths, Tales & Epics of the World: French, Iberian, Italian & Basque
Here's a huge list of French, Basque, Spanish, Portuguese & Italian/ Roman myths, legends, epics, fables, folktales & fairy tales. You'll find regional collections from such French provinces as Normandy & Provence (most Breton tales are in my British/ Celtic list), the Italian cities of Rome & Florence, the Portuguese Azores Islands & Spain's island of Majorca. I also have collections of tales by such authors as Édouard Laboulaye, Fernan Caballero & Luigi Capuana. Black Coat Press has published new translations ( by prolific writer Brian Stableford) of tales from the salons of 17th-18th century France, though you can tell they're not for kids by the covers. For more books see the appendix to Stith Thompson's The Folktale, surlalune.com, sacred-texts.com, fairy tales.com, D. L. Ashliman's Folktexts website, Tormod Kinnes' The Gold Scales website & recently retired U of Oklahoma professor Laura Gibbs' blog Freebookapalooza. Included 1 non-English book as it's supposedly cursed.
