There's no shortage of bad book-to-film adaptations. It's easy to get upset over characters, scenes, or entire plot threads that get cut, but the worst offence any adaptation can commit is missing the entire point of the book. If you screw up a book's theme/meaning/raison d'ĂȘtre , it's like you didn't even read it to begin with.
