Minnesota's Special Birds - Page 4

Minnesota is one of America's top birding destinations, particularly during winter, when birds of the Arctic and boreal regions like finches (Pine Grosbeak, crossbills, redpolls) and owls (Snowy, Great Gray, Northern Hawk-Owl) show up in the far northern regions at places like the Gunflint Trail and the Sax-Zim Bog. But the Land of 10,000 Lakes (actually many more than that) is enticing at other seasons, too: among the possibilities are fall hawk-watching in Duluth, seeking elusive nesting waterbirds at McGregor Marsh, and birds with Southern affinities at Beaver Creek Valley State Park.
