Markd9528's Updated 100 Favourite Books

This challenge has been updated with works I have read in the last year or so. Specifically these are 100 books that have left a strong impression on me or that I remember with fondness and/or amusement. That includes books I read in childhood (which could mean more than 50 years ago).
I have restricted myself to two books per author but dropping this restriction wouldn't have made much difference. I feel all these books are worth reading, although dissenting comments on specific books are welcome.
