Goodreads "Microhistory: Social Histories of Just One Thing" - Page 5

"To borrow from Wikipedia, "Microhistory is the intensive historical investigation of a well defined smaller unit of research (most often a single event, the community of a village, a family or a person)."
Strangely, the list is bloated with books about plagues, pestilence and parasites (including some human versions of the latter). The works are in descending order of ratings, NOT as in the Goodreads source list, which is ordered by number of votes. The long subtitles of some books have been brutally truncated by the List Challenges software.
Inclusion criteria:
4,000+ ratings and at least 3 votes, except for a few extra personal choices as follows:
Big Bang: The Origin of the Universe
Measuring the World
Over the Edge of the World: Magellan's Terrifying Circumnavigation of the Globe
Quackery: A Brief History of the Worst Ways to Cure Everything
A History of π
