A list of my fave UK punk 45s from the very first years - that would be 1976 to 1977. Some obvious picks, some doubtful picks and some classics I left out because I don't like them.
You can't go wrong with the Pistols first 45 (tho I prefer Goodman's insane mix of Anarchy In The UK, stinking of lager and cheap amphetamine). It is the flip I Wanna Be Me that really gets the price, my #1 punkrock song.
The Damned rock so goddamn hard on New Rose that you almost get disappointed of the cover of Beatles Help on the flip. But it is cool.
Slaughter & the Dogs brought a true dangerous vibe with their Stooges-cum-pub rock punk.
The Lurkers created one of the most catchy and wonderfully moronic 45 of the first wave.
The Adverts first three singles is a punk rock troika surpassed by none, all three was killer 2-siders.
The Users 2-sided is one of the best released punk 45s of all time.
Menace is 45 double-threat of Oi! and street punk.
Wire is quirky excellence and hints of post-punk.
