FIFA wants to move to a Club World Cup to be held every four years. So here are the qualifying teams if the 2018 Club World Cup had 32 participants, as derived according to the following rules:
1. Champions from the four preceding Big Five Confederations champions leagues seasons.
2. Most recent champion from the Oceanic Confederation.
3. Runners-up of three preceding confederation champions league seasons from the confederation of the most recent Club World Cup winner (UEFA).
4. Runners-up from the two preceding continental champions leagues seasons of each of the remaining Big Five Confederations.
5. For repeat qualifying teams from a confederation, runners-up in the most recent champions league competition will take fill the remaining slots for the given confederation.
