Cinematherapy Goes to the Oscars - Page 5

The fifth entry in the series, Cinematherapy Goes to the Oscars (2004), by Nancy Peske and Beverly West, takes a decade-by-decade look at the Academy Awards. It shows how the zeitgeist of each decade was reflected in the Oscar nominees and winners, and how each one can help us today.
But not the following "What Were They Thinking?" decisions on the part of the Academy: the snubbing of Seabiscuit to fawn over Lord of the Rings; the entire movie Monster's Ball, except for Halle Berry; Braveheart; snubbing Elizabeth in favor of Shakespeare in Love; snubbing 12 Angry Men in favor of The Bridge on the River Kwai; The Quiet Man; The Awful Truth losing the Best Picture Award to The Life of Emile Zola; She Done Him Wrong losing to Cavalcade; and not giving My Man Godfrey a single one of the six awards for which it was nominated.
