American History - A Kaleidoscope of Perspectives - Page 4

Most people want American history to be easy and straight forward. Instead it is enormously complex, extending over 400 years with a kaleidoscope of characters and events. Whenever possible I have avoided biographies; party politics and politicians of any kind; foreign affairs and diplomacy; Washington D.C.; and our many foreign wars. Real history lies in the books on this list and the far greater number that I have missed.
