In honor of the last Holmes stories leaving copyright, here's a tasting menu of the Holmes retellings we already have. Holmes is pulled to the past and the future; meets Dracula, Cthulhu, and Freud; kisses Watson, Lestrade, and Irene Adler; is made a kinkster and a good Christian; and is given any number of daughters, nieces, neighbors, and pets. Side characters get the spotlight, as does Arthur Conan Doyle himself.
At only one book per series, and with a focus on retellings rather than pastiches (although there are some pastiches on here), this is only a slice of the Holmes books out there--and a droplet in the ocean of what's to come.
