50 Quintessential Winter Foods
- Page 2
There are some foods that just scream "Winter!" Many of these foods are certainly prepared year-round, but despite this, some foods are synonymous with winter. The fruits and vegetables are often imported, kept in cold storage, root cellars, or preserved. Food seems to taste better in a warm and cozy kitchen, and it's not a winter outing without a thermos of hearty soup or hot chocolate. Nothing says winter like a thick, slow simmered stew, a warm mug of mulled wine beside the fire, or a juicy pot roast fresh out of the oven. There are those winter moments; stopping for a hot apple cider while skating on the lake, sitting in front of a bonfire with a spicy bowl of chili, or breathing in the familiar aroma of a pot of turkey soup. The drinks are steaming hot, and the food rich and comforting. This is a list of 50 foods that make winter great.
