The older I get the further I stray from the ordinary variety of YA books. Love triangles, special for no good reason, vampires, and contrived storylines and all of the many obnoxious tropes ya books have.
I still read some ya, and I have read several from the past couple years that impressed me. Mainly books that were genre bending and unique. "Sadie" comes to mind, I highly recommend it.
Anyway, once the characters in the books had birthdays in the 2000s and we not set in futuristic societies it was just a bit unnerving. I dunno why. Anyhoooo enjoy :)
