What a Blueberry Can Do... a Saskatoon Does Better!

For those of you who don't live in Canada (or probably more specifically the prairies) a Saskatoon Berry is similar to a blueberry (and can easily be substituted for one) but has a sweet, nutty flavour with a more meaty texture. The name Saskatoon comes from the Cree misaskwatomina meaning "fruit of the tree of many branches." Also, called a juneberry, they are not only delicious, but an excellent source of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and fibre!
