From "Planet" to "War": The Apes Onscreen

This sci-fi franchise is based on French author Pierre Boulle's 1963 novel "La Planète des singes"," translated into English as "Monkey Planet" or "Planet of the Apes." The original film franchise began with the successful 1968 movie "Planet of the Apes" starring Charlton Heston. The original series comprised five films. There was a 2001 Tim Burton remake, and a superb reboot trilogy that utilized CGI instead of make-up (2011-2017).There were also two TV series in the 1970s, one of which was animated.
