Washington Post 100 Best Comic Novels

According to Michael Dirda of the Washington Post: "...these are the books we actually like, that make us laugh out loud and lift our hearts. Some readers even call such titles comfort books, for they tend to be the ones we turn to when the world is too much with us or, as is more often the case, against us. The following 100 titles -- all published in English in the 20th century -- appear roughly as they suggested themselves to me, certainly not in order of merit or hilarity."
The list adopts a one author/one book rule. Dirda also appends a very brief description for each book.
