Trains in Film: An Historically Effective Pairing

From one of the very first films to, according to urban legend, cause "fear, terror, even panic" to theatre audiences, trains have had a constant and not insignificant role in the history of cinema. Although the mode of transportation has lost a great deal of significance in our contemporary society, they still provide some of the most thrilling sequences in many films, including the Fugitive, Stand By Me, and Mission: Impossible.
