Total Film - 10 Movies Inspired by Magazine Articles to Watch After Inventing Anna

Netflix series Inventing Anna stars Julia Garner as Anna Sorokin, a socialite scammer living in New York City who pretended to be a German heiress named Anna Delvey between 2013 and 2017 in order to defraud banks, hotels, and wealthy acquaintances. While the Shonda Rhimes-created show is based on true events, the main inspiration for the nine-part series comes from the New York magazine article "How Anna Delvey Tricked New York's Party People" by Jessica Pressler. Inventing Anna isn't alone in taking inspiration from the glossy pages of a magazine – movies from Top Gun to Boogie Nights started out as stories told by journalists. From political exposés to meta-comedies, here are 10 movies that are also based on magazine features to watch after you've binged Invent
