Burns' Hottest 100 Hits of 1972 - Page 2

50 Years ago this year, 1972 was one of the best, if not THE BEST year ever for music, be it Rock, Soul or Pop. Rock On!!!
Some songs from albums were released in Nov/Dec of 1971 but I'm rating them from when they peaked on the charts. For example, Elton John's album "Madman Across the Water" was released in November of 1971 but most if not all the songs peaked in 1972.
Of the Top 10 Billboard Hits of 1972, seven songs Did NOT make my Top 100!
2 "Alone Again (Naturally)" - Gilbert O'Sullivan
4 "Without You" - Harry Nilsson
5 "The Candy Man" - Sammy Davis Jr.
6 "I Gotcha" - Joe Tex
8 "Baby, Don't Get Hooked on Me" - Mac Davis
9 "Brand New Key" – Melanie (Did make the 1971 List)
10 "Daddy Don't You Walk So Fast" - Wayne Newton
A total of 44 songs from the top 100 Billboard hits for 1972 didn't make my list of the TRULY best hits of 1972.
Best Picture of the year in 1972? For my money it was "What's Up Doc?" starring Barbara Streisand and Ryan O'Neil.
