Whenever I am in a charity shop I cannot resist rummaging through the music CD's for anything that takes my interest.
Not all of the CD's on display are music or music related.and occasionally I find a spoken word CD.
By spoken word I mean poetry readings, plays/drama, radio programs, audio recordings of TV programs, speeches as well as audio books.
All of the audio novels are abridged, but as I have only paid £2 or less for them, I am not complaining. (Some of these were still in their packaging, therefore they had never been used).
It makes a refreshing change sitting back and just listening to the stories. The ladies of letters are delightfully amusing, and as for Bill Bryson, he has a wonderful reading voice that I would happily listen for hours. I definitely want to find more of his audio books that he is reading.
