The Movies of a 1980s Childhood

My family were big movie buffs, and still are. We also only got cable so that we could have the Disney Channel, which originally played mostly the old Disney movies of the 1960s, and mom was a big fan of musicals. So in addition to some very old Disney films, I also grew up watching a lot of older movies, musicals, and then the popular films of the day, which were utterly terrifying despite being rated PG and marketed to families. We saw both Jaws and Poltergeist for family movie night, on the recommendation of all our neighbors, and were terrified! Looking back, it's a pretty awesome assortment, actually!
