Dr. Eliot's "Harvard Classics Shelf of Fiction" - Page 2

In 1917, Harvard University President Charles Eliot compiled and published a list of all time classic books of fiction. It was compounded of novels and short stories and published in a set of 20 volumes. The idea was that reading great literature was an education in itself. NOTE: THIS LIST DOES NOT INCLUDE WORKS OF FICTION LISTED ON DR. ELIOT'S PREVIOUS LIST "THE HARVARD CLASSICS." NOTE: Selection #18, "Jim Smiley and His Jumping Frog," is the original name for "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County."
