On February 27th, 2025, the world was stunned by the sudden loss of legendary actor Gene Hackman, who passed away at the age of 95, along with his wife, Betsy Arakawa, and their dog. At the time of making this list, the cause of their deaths is unknown. Hackman is best known for his acting performances in films like Unforgiven, The French Connection, the blind man in Mel Brooks's Young Frankenstein, and for playing Lex Luthor in the Christopher Reeve Superman films.
