The English Teacher's Bookshelves Part 5 - Favorite Writers - Page 7

This installment : 250 books sitting in my home library, all by authors I return to again and again. I'm proud of the fact that so many of them are not part of the teacher's canon; I've been at war with that particular academic snobbery my entire career. I've also tried not to duplicate books that have appeared on my other lists; hence James Ellroy and Robert Heinlein, as much as I admire their work, do not appear here. The same holds true for a lot of works by John Brunner and Joe Haldeman, who are also well represented on my other lists. Those duplications that do appear are often the result of my having different editions in different places. Sometimes, the obsession gets the better of me.
