This is a very challenging challenge. Are you bold enough to take on the challenge, so that you can be declared a true-hearted list challenger?
The list's ancillary purpose may be obvious to frequent list publishers; it is to gain easier access to certain book icons. This is particularly the case for works in which the complete title is of a generic form such as "Selected Plays", "Collected Stories", "The Complete Poems", "Major Works" etc. In other words, the author's name is not mentioned in the icon's title and so cannot be searched on.
If some of the books seem esoteric it's almost certainly because they're part of the greatestbooks.org fiction collection (and generally far down that list).
Needless to say, I welcome any feedback about which of your favourite books should be added. BTW, I can't wait to get my hands on the autobiography of Morrissey: 11,000+ ratings on Goodreads!
