The Art of the Story: Great Short Fiction - Page 2

Our Maverick English Teacher reflects on the short story, and comes up with a list of 100 collections that clearly show what the form is capable of being. As always, the list is personal, idiosyncratic, and decidedly Un-canonical. Most of the volumes are single author collections; however, several seminal anthologies that helped define particular genres were necessarily included. Some of the books are classics, some are genre specific masterpieces, and some are singularly unclassifiable. All are worth a look; each has one or more gems that you might otherwise never experience.
