"Ten Who Dared" (not to be confused with the 1960 Disney movies of the same name) was a joint production by the BBC, West German TV, and Time/Life. It was a 10-part television series narrated by Anthony Quinn about 10 intrepid explorers (11, actually -- two were featured in one episode) who explored aspects of the world that had been hitherto unexplored.
I remember watching these when I was in the 4th grade!
This program was neither a hagiography, nor is it politically correct. Many of these individuals had serious character flaws. But they all had one thing is common -- courage and a thirst for knowledge and discovery.
