Stereotypical Fictional Characters: The Male Black Best Friend

I specifically wanted to talk about the Trope of the black male best friend, especially when our main (usually non-black) female character has a black male best friend (unfabulous, veronica mars, taina etc) That best friend usually has no character development and rarely have romantic interests. We know little about their family, likes and dislikes (unless associated with their non-black bestie). They may be besties with the main characters but compared to their white counterparts they are always underused and underutilized.
