This is a selection of the most memorable public works of art I have seen around the world. They include statues, sculptures, murals, graffiti, fountains and more. They are from South America, Australasia/Pacific, Europe and Asia.
I have not included natural landmarks (e.g. rock formations), clock towers or memorial churches, and I've tried to avoid other entire buildings, though I have included a couple of gates, either because they are memorials or they appear to have (or to have had) a mainly decorative function. I've also avoided any work of art which is in a museum, art gallery, church, house, palace or any place which requires a ticket for entrance or is otherwise a private building. One exception to this is the Headington Shark sculpture/ installation in Oxford, England (you'll hopefully see why when you see the picture of it!).
