Stacker's List of the Best 100 Movies of All Time

No one has seen every movie from the past few years, let alone every movie since 1895 when Auguste and Louis Lumière used a cinematograph machine to project moving images onto a screen for the first time. Naturally, movies have come a long way since the early days of 50-second reels, making ranking the best movies of all time seem even more impossible. Add in the bevy of films that are now easily streamed right from home, and the choices for good films are endless. Great films usually deliver the goods on multiple fronts. That means everything from the writing to the music to the acting is memorable, if not downright iconic. At the end of the day, of course, there is no one solitary answer as to what makes a great movie—just like there is no one type of great film. Here are Stacker's picks for the best movies of all time.
